Create Dimples – Get Lucky!

Andheri’s Best Dimple Surgery Clinic

Dimples have always being considered to be “cute” and “lucky” – however not all of us were blessed with that natural factor.  All that can be changed thanks to modern cosmetic procedures such as dimple creation surgery.

The Dimple Creation procedure is very simple and straightforward when done by an expert surgeon.  Dr. Leroy Rebello can perform dimple creation surgery for both men and women under nothing more than just local anesthesia.

A natural dimple is actually formed when there is a small defect in the cheek musculature (most often the buccinator muscle). The skin overlying this small defect is stuck down to the underlying connective tissue and creates a dimple in the skin with facial animation (smiling).

Before & After

Creating a Dimple – The Process

Dimple creation surgery can simulate this naturally occurring process. To create a dimple, a small painless incision is made in the inside of your cheek. There is no incision or scar on the outside skin. A small absorbent suture is passed through the inside of the cheek and catches the under surface of the skin where the dimple is desired.  When this suture is tied it causes a dimpling in the overlying skin. At first there is a dimple present even without smiling, but after several days, or sometimes a few weeks, the dimple is only present while smiling or moving the face. The scarring between the inner skin and muscle will cause a permanent dimple even after the suture is absorbed.

Dimple creation surgery can be done on any type or size cheek. You can decide where the dimples will be, or you can have Dr. Leroy Rebello decide where the most optimal place for the dimples should be on your face.

Dimple creation surgery can be done in our clinic with nothing more than local anesthesia. You will be awake and comfortable during the entire dimple creation surgery process. Special arrangements can be made if you would rather be asleep for the dimple creation surgery. The dimple creation takes about 30 minutes to perform and you can go home right away after the procedure.

Dimple creation surgery is safe and effective, but also potentially reversible. There are minimal complications with dimple formation aside from a little bit of swelling and bruising. You should be able to resume your normal activities on the same day. You will take antibiotics for only a couple of days after your dimple creation surgery.

Although the cheek is the usual place that patients might request a dimple, the chin is also a frequently requested site. It is possible to make chin dimples as well without any incisions on the outside skin.

How long does Dimple Creation Surgery Take?

It takes about 20 minutes to perform Dimple Creation Surgery.  The dimple procedure is done in the office under local anesthesia.  It can be done on the same day of your initial consultation, especially if you are traveling a fair amount of distance to arrive at our clinic.

Will my new dimple look natural?

Dr. Rebello has created a technique for creating new dimples that is unique. You may have seen pictures of dimple creation surgery and noticed that they don’t look natural.  This is not the case with our dimple creation surgery method.  Your new dimple will look like a natural dimple and not like a red mark on your face. Dr. Rebello will not perform dimple surgery, or any other surgery, unless he can be assured that the result will look natural and beautiful.

Is dimple creation surgery permanent?

Yes. The procedure will result in a permanent dimple. Rarely, if the suture breaks during the immediate healing process, the dimple may result in being shallow or could disappear completely. If this happens you will not be charged for having the dimple redone.

Do I need to miss work after having Dimple Creation Surgery?

You will most likely have some swelling in the cheek after the dimple creation surgery.  This is usually minimal.  Depending on what you do for a living, you might not need to miss any work at all after your dimple creation surgery is done.  The swelling usually subsides in a few days.

Do I need to take any medicine before or after my dimple creation procedure?

You will be given a prescription for antibiotics to start taking the morning of your procedure.  You will take these antibiotics for a few days after your dimple creation procedure is done.  Usually pain is manageable and mild after the Dimple creation surgery.

How long does it take the dimple to look natural?

There is usually a period of time after the dimple creation surgery is done where the dimple is present even when you are not smiling. This period is variable and can last anywhere from several days to several weeks and sometimes a couple of months.  As you heal, the dimple will slowly flatten out when you are not smiling and will only be present when you are smiling.

Can I choose where the dimple is placed?

You can also have just one dimple placed, or two. Dimple surgery is entirely personalized.  You can choose to have a deeper dimple, more superficial dimple, a dimple that is more vertical or just a circular dimple.

What are some of the complications that can happen with Dimple Creation Surgery?

Mild swelling and bruising are the most common issues.  It is a potential possibility to have temporary weakness of your cheek muscle after the dimple creation that can last days or sometimes weeks.  This is very rare.  You might not like the dimple and might want it to be deeper or more shallow.  You will be placed on a short course of antibiotics to prevent an infection from occurring.

Can I eat and drink what I want after Dimple Creation Surgery?

You are free to eat and drink whatever you like after the dimple creation procedure.  You will have some pain and discomfort in the cheek after dimple surgery, but it should be minimal and should not interfere with your ability to chew and eat normally.

Is Dimple Surgery reversible?

It is possible to reverse the surgery with a small procedure to loosen the dimple. Dr. Rebello will spend time with you to make sure dimple creation surgery is right for you.  Hopefully this will prevent the need of having to potentially reverse the dimple.

Can I decide How deep or shallow my new dimple will be?

Somewhat.  The Dimple surgery is adjustable to a certain extent.  There are many variables that might affect the depth, size and shape of your dimple. Some of these variables include how thick your cheeks are, how much fat is present, the shape of your face, and the balance of your facial muscles. You can choose the location of the dimple on your face.  You will have a chance to speak with Dr. Rebello in detail about the dimple surgery process and decide the exact dimple that will be right for you. Dr. Rebello will go over what type of dimple you are likely to heal with depending on a few of these variables.

Why would anyone consider getting Dimple Creation Surgery?

In some cultures dimples are considered a sign of good luck and prosperity. Also, dimples help brighten a smile and add character to the face – most people find dimples sexy and that’s a fact! Many patients know a close relative or close friends who have naturally occurring dimples and they are happy to know that a dimple can be theirs too with just a small surgery.

Dimple creation surgery is a relatively easy and painless way to form a dimple for those people who have always wanted one. Will having a dimple change your life or bring you better luck? That has not been scientifically proven. As with any other surgery that might change your appearance, Dr. Rebello will speak to you in detail to make sure that dimple creation surgery is right for you.
